During the fall 2024, the Transformation Lab will be further developed with a new framing around the lab, built from recycled materials, as well as new green areas. The need for collaboration beyond traditional boundaries has never been more critical. Yet, our methods, mindsets, and tools are relics of a simpler time, insufficient for addressing today’s complex challenges.
How do we adapt to the new reality? Join us as we unveil an inspiring and practical infrastructure for boundaryless collaboration, paving the way for a future where collective brilliance and inclusive cooperation redefine our world.
This workshop will encourage analysis into the types of content we see online by comparing real and fake news stories and assessing the impact on political processes. It will then aim to consider what can be done to prevent the dissemination of fake news and how to democratise our social media spaces.
We will have three activities which will test your ability to distinguish between real and fake or AI generated online content, followed up by a discussion on the themes raised by the activities.

Helena Bengtsson arbetar som redaktör för datajournalistik på Gota Media. Hon har tidigare arbetat som projektledare och redaktör för datajournalistik på Sveriges Television, som redaktör för Data Projects på the Guardian i London och på SVT Pejl, Sveriges Televisions redaktion för datajournalistik. 2006-2007 var hon Database Editor på Center for Public Integrity i Washington, DC.
Hans Peterson Hammer är grävschef på Göteborgs Posten och ordförande av Publicist Klubben Väst. Hans vann flera journalistiska priser för grävandejournalistik och tidigare arbetade på SVT’s Uppdrag Granskning och Dagens Nyheter.
Ulla Sätereie är ordförande av Föreningen Grävande Journalister och universitetsadjunkt i journalistik vid JMG, Göteborgs universitet. Programansvarig för MIJ, en internationell master i undersökande journalistik. Arbetar också med ett Erasmus+-projekt – CJC, Crossborder Journalism Campus – där JMG samarbetar med journalistutbildningar på masternivå i Leipzig och Paris samt Arena for Journalism in Europe och forskare vid Oslo Met.

Alex Maxia, frilansjournalist och medgrundande styrelseledamot av Gothenburg Media Hub. Han har jobbat med några gränsöverskridande grävande projekt och rapporterat om Norden för bland annat den italienska nyhetsbyrå ANSA, Sveriges Radio, BBC News och The Times.

Ett scensamtal på engelska utifrån temat ”How to be a good human being” med fokus på etik, kärlek, unga människor och hur vi som individer och kollektiv kan skapa ett gott samhälle för alla. I samtalet deltar även Fryshusets VD Johan Oljeqvist och Elektraambassadören Nermin Alsalim. Ulrica Wallin, chef för Fryshuset i Göteborg, är moderator.
Fryshuset är en global ungdomsorganisation som firar 40 år i år och som sedan snart 20 år driver en mängd verksamheter och projekt i Göteborg och Västra Götaland. Organisationens mångåriga relation med Geshe Pema Dorjee, gör det möjligt att tillsammans med Göteborgs Föreningscenter bjuda in till scensamtalet ”Be the GOOD change”.
There is a negative trend for democracy. How do young people feel that freedom in Europe is decreasing? What initiatives and ideas exist to increase freedom and strengthen democracy?
A panel with young people from five different European countries will discuss democracy in the future Europe. The seminar starts with an introduction of journalist and documentary filmmaker Jan Scherman, who made the documentary ”Make Democracy Great Again”. He will give a review that focuses on the question of how democracy can survive? And how can we all contribute to that?
